Ultrasound

This non-invasive imaging service uses ultrasound waves to visualize the abdomen and thyroid gland.

Ultrasound Examinations (Sonography)

Diagnostics without stress – Precise insights into your body

In our practice, we use sonography as one of the most important diagnostic procedures. Ultrasound allows us to examine your internal organs in real-time, painlessly, and completely without radiation exposure.

Here you will find details about the two most common ultrasound checks in our general practice:

1. Abdominal Sonography (Abdominal Organs)

The ultrasound examination of the abdomen is the basic diagnostic procedure for complaints in the abdominal area or as part of preventive care.

What we investigate:

  • Liver and Gallbladder: Screening for fatty deposits (fatty liver), inflammation, or gallstones.

  • Pancreas: Assessment for signs of inflammation.

  • Spleen: Monitoring of size and structure.

  • Kidneys: Exclusion of kidney stones, cysts, or urinary congestion (obstruction).

  • Aorta (Main Artery): Preventive screening for dilations (aneurysms).

  • Urinary Bladder: Assessment of wall structure and filling.

Important Information for Patients: To ensure optimal image quality, please arrive for the examination fasting (do not eat, drink coffee/milk, or consume carbonated water for approximately 6 hours beforehand). This helps avoid interfering gas or air pockets in the intestines.

2. Thyroid Sonography

The thyroid is the "gas pedal" of your metabolism. Since thyroid diseases are very common in Germany, this ultrasound is a central part of our diagnostics.

What we investigate:

  • Size and Volume: Is there an enlargement (goiter/struma)?

  • Tissue Structure: Are there signs of inflammation (e.g., Hashimoto's thyroiditis)?

  • Nodule Diagnostics: Identification, measurement, and assessment of "hot" or "cold" nodules as well as cysts.

Preparation: No special preparation is required for a thyroid ultrasound. You do not need to be fasting.

Your benefits in our practice

  • Safety: No X-rays (radiation-free), therefore it can be repeated as often as necessary.

  • Immediate Results: We will discuss the images with you directly during or after the examination.

  • State-of-the-art Technology: We use high-resolution ultrasound equipment for maximum detail.
